Welcome Letter

Dear AC Tennis Members & Prospective Members,

While it's still dreary and cool outside, Spring tennis is just around the corner. So start thinking of warm weather and sign up for the 2010 AC Tennis league. 

The first night of scheduled tennis for the league is Wednesday May 5th. The regular season runs 16 weeks to August 18th.  The tournament starts August 25th and will continue until you win your bracket or lose twice. All matches are 1 hour of singles including warm-up.

The membership fee has increased to $75 (a $5 increase) for 2010 based on court cost increases from Hart Park due to the recent reconstruction of all courts there.  

The sign-up is handled similar to the last couple of years – it is all online.

Please go to our website – www.actennis.com  – and you will see all of the information you need.  Not only will you sign-up there, you can also pay there.  All payments (all major credit cards and checks) are handled via a very secure system (more details are available on our website). 

If you wish to pay by check, please send $75 dues and $15 per person kick-off party fee payable to AC Tennis to our treasurer - Art Lovas 3354 S. Vista Granada Dr New Berlin, WI 53151.

Prospective Members - Sign-up NOW using the Sign-up link on the website. DO NOT pay dues or the party fee at this time. We will notify you by mid-April regarding whether we have a spot open for you. If so, we will ask you to pay at that time.

The sign up deadline for existing members is March 28th.  After that time, new members will be given available spots. We will be accepting 84 members.  You must be at least 21 to be a member.  We ask that you apply only if you can regularly play on Wednesdays at the times scheduled.  

All matches are scheduled on reserved courts at Hart Park & Wick Field courts at 6 or 7p.m. Wick Field is located at 50th & W. Vilet St., Milwaukee; Hart Park is at 7300 Chestnut St, Wauwatosa. There will be 28 matches scheduled each week.  

Following matches, we encourage members to join us at Colonel Hart's - 7342 W. State St., Wauwatosa - for socializing. It is also a good opportunity to turn in your match scores. Otherwise, match scores must be sent to our scheduler, Tim Rose, before 9:00 a.m. on Friday - tim.rose@ge.med.com.

Jenny Rebholz and Scott Shrank are hosting the kick-off party this year.  The party will be held at the Milwaukee Ale House on Saturday, April 17th, with more details to follow. The Milwaukee Ale House is located in the Third Ward at 233 N. Water Street.  There will be a light fare to eat a long with beer and soda.  It should be lots of fun and is always a good way to catch up with old friends and to meet the new members.  The cost is only $15 per person.  Spouses and significant others are welcome. Please pay for this event online at the same time as you pay your dues.

There are 6 other parties planned for the upcoming season. Party information can be found on the website. Put the dates on your calendar today.

Please Be Aware: AC Tennis has a strict No Show Fee policy. If you miss your match, are more than 10 minutes late to your match, or don’t get a sub by noon on the day of play, there is a $25 fine First Offense, $50 Second Offense, Third Offense you are removed from the league.  Fines are made payable to AC tennis, delivered to the Treasurer, and reported to the President. You must pay to be included on the next set of schedules.  (A list of 15 subs of all rankings is available on each schedule for your convenience.) We don't want your money; we only want you to be on time for your matches.

All members should be thoroughly familiar with ALL League Rules. These can be found under the About link on our website.

All members will receive club info (schedules, party info, etc.) by e-mail (which has the fastest delivery) or through our website www.actennis.com.

Finally, we are allowing businesses to advertise on the AC Tennis website.  The total cost per season to add a company logo, a bit of marketing info, and a website link is $100.  If you know of any business that may be interested, please send contact information to me via e-mail.
